POTSDAM -- Adam Maughan, 29, Potsdam, has been jailed on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond on charges of sexual abuse of a child and violating an order of protection.
The Potsdam Police Department received a complaint at 5:23 p.m. Thursday of possible sexual abuse of a female under the age of 11. Police found that there was a stay-away order of protection in effect for the victim’s mother.
Maughan was found at that residence on Lawrence Avenue and was taken into custody. He was taken to the Potsdam Police Department for processing, and was charged with first-degree sexual abuse with a child under 11, two counts of violating the court order, and endangering the welfare of a child.
He was arraigned before Village Justice Pignone and sent to the county lockup.
