POTSDAM — A Potsdam man was arrested after leaving the scene of an accident after allegedly trying to jump Pumpkin Hill on May 5, according to St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies.
Nathan J. Hanson, 20, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident reckless driving, speed not reasonable or prudent, failure to keep right, and open container in a motor vehicle, officers said.
Hanson, along with two passengers, could not be located immediately following an accident, deputies said.
The three people were seen running into the woods following the accident, officers said.
All of the individuals were located later with no injuries.
Deputies discovered that Hanson was attempting to jump Pumpkin Hill, on the Pumpkin Hill Road, when he lost control of his vehicle on the landing and struck several trees on the opposite side of the road, deputies said.
Also assisting during the investigation were Border Patrol and DEC.
Hanson was cited and released.
Hannawa Falls Fire Department also responded to the scene.
