POTSDAM – A Potsdam man is accused of third-degree robbery after allegedly taking a roll of bills from an associate in a downtown alley.
Benjamin R. Tipping, 26, was arrested and charged after luring an associate of his into the alley behind La Casbah early Sunday and forcibly taking a roll of cash from the victim’s hand, according to Potsdam police.
He is also suspected in an unrelated burglary, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, stemming from an incident last week.
He is also under investigation for an unrelated altercation with several other males after leaving La Casbah.
Tipping was arraigned for the felony offense before Village Justice Nicholas Pignone and released under probation supervision with a no contact order of protection for the victim.
Tipping is due ordered to appear in village court on Wednesday where he is to answer the additional charges.
