POTSDAM – A Potsdam resident was arrested Monday for leaving two dogs and three cats inside an abandoned apartment with no heat and filthy living conditions, according to Potsdam police.
Casey A. Hall, 24, was charged with five counts of animal cruelty at 12:19 on Maple Street where Hall reportedly had been staying with a friend, officers said.
Police said they received a complaint from a landlord that a tenant had abandoned two dogs inside an apartment. Upon investigation patrols say they discovered two dogs and three cats living in unsanitary conditions with animal feces all over the residence and no heat source.
Animal control officers were contacted and the animals were taken to the Potsdam Animal Shelter, officers said.
Hall is to answer the charges in Potsdam Village Court Jan. 17, police said.
