POTSDAM -- A Potsdam man faces charges of choking and imprisoning his girlfriend Saturday afternoon.
St. Lawrence County Sheriff's deputies said Jacob J. Bunnell, 24, of 100 River Rd., choked his girlfriend as she drove along the Old-Potsdam-Parishville Road Saturday afternoon. She reportedly managed to stop and left the vehicle.
Bunnell then allegedly threatened to run her over if she didn't get back in.
He then is alleged to have struck her in the face and, when she again said she wanted to get out of the car, he refused and kept driving.
Bunnell has been charged with two class A misdemeanors, criminal obstruction of breathing and second-degree unlawful imprisonment, plus a second-degree harassment count.
Deputies were assisted by the Potsdam Police Department upon taking Bunnell into custody.
Bunnell was arraigned before Potsdam Village Justice Pignone and released to probation authorities.
