Potsdam Lions Club seeks to help local children in need of glasses

POTSDAM -- Members of the Potsdam Lions Club will take to the streets of the village Sept. 21 and 22 and again on Sept. 28 and 29 to raise funds as part of their annual White Cane Sale.

Funds donated by community members will be used to help with various Lions Club projects, particularly sight-related projects.

The Potsdam Lions help area school children who need glasses, and make donations to local hospitals and libraries.

The Lions also support the North Country Association for the Visually Impaired with donations toward their programs.

Mary Nocerino, Potsdam White Cane Sale chairperson, said that money raised “will allow Lions to meet pressing needs in our community including helping the visually impaired, collecting and recycling eyeglasses, providing early eye screening to detect visual problems, and much more.”

The Potsdam Lions Club and meets on the first and third Tuesdays of each month (except July and August) at 6 at the Canoe Place in Hannawa Falls.
