POTSDAM -- Ten Potsdam Lions Club members donated their time last weekend for spring cleaning at the Fall Island Park, located behind Evans & White Ace Hardware.
The park is surrounded on three sides by the waters of the Raquette River and by two falls created by damns.
“Many local community residents may not even know the park is there to enjoy,” said volunteer Michelle Roach.
The Potsdam Lions Club, along with the Village of Potsdam, maintain the park's appearance and use funds toward park improvements frequently.
The Lions thanked the Clarkson men's basketball team who helped with lawn repair and remove dangerous objects and litter from the shoreline and fishing pier areas.
“The Lions hope that many people will visit and enjoy the scenic and tranquil atmosphere of Potsdam's Falls Island Park,” Roach said.
