POTSDAM – The Town of Potsdam is launching a $400,000 housing rehabilitation project for substandard owner-occupied houses in the township outside of the villages of Potsdam and Norwood.
The town received a Small Cities Community Development Block Grant earlier this year to cover the costs of the program.
Staff from the Potsdam Planning and Development Office will kick off the process with a meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14 in the board room in Town Hall, 18 Elm St.
Eligibility for grant assistance, applying, and the rehabilitation process will be discussed . There will be time for questions and answers. Applications will be accepted starting right after the meeting.
Town hall is accessible to people with physical disabilities.
The grant funds can be used for a wide range of repairs to such things as structural systems and secondary systems such as roofing, windows, electrical wiring, and energy systems.
It is estimated that these funds will help rehabilitate 10 to 12 houses.
Since 1999, the Town of Potsdam and the Planning and Development Office have secured $2.8 million in Small Cities Grants for rehabilitation of 107 owner-occupied houses around the township.
