POTSDAM -- The Knitting Group of the First Presbyterian Church of Potsdam has recently shipped two large boxes of hand knit baby sweaters and blankets to the Malawi Crisis Nursery in Malawi, Africa.
This is the third biennial shipment to support the nursery, which houses infants to two-year-olds whose families are unable to provide them with needed care.
Adding to this project with beautifully hand knit items were the Fort Covington Presbyterian Church Women Knitters, The Presbyterian Church of Watertown Knitting Group, and the Peru Community Church “Knit-Wits and Sew and Sews,” as well as a number of generous participants from the community.
Over 40 sweaters and over 50 blankets were made as well as hats, buntings, booties, and soft knitted dolls.
Two more boxes will be sent before the arrival of Malawi’s cold season.
