POTSDAM -- The Kiwanis Club of Potsdam recently recognized Sarah Sachs, Public Services Manager at the Potsdam Public Library, with its Every Day Hero Award.

“Sarah is a positive and long time supporter of the Potsdam Kiwanis club activities.

"She is the cornerstone of our Head Start Reading Program in both Potsdam and Parishville. She also helped the club start a Santa Story Hour event as well,” explained club secretary Carla Ingram.

“Kiwanis clubs in the New York district give this award to individuals that have been strong partners to those clubs,” stated St. Lawrence Division Lieutenant Governor Marylee Ballou. The St. Lawrence Division is composed of eight clubs: Potsdam, Canton, Norwood, Ogdensburg, Malone, Gouverneur, Watertown Noon, and Jefferson Breakfast.

Kiwanis, a global organization of members, is dedicated to serving the children of the world. Kiwanis and its family of clubs— more than 600,000 members strong—annually raise more than U.S. $100 million and dedicate more than 18.5 million volunteer hours to strengthen communities and serve children. Members of every age attend regular meetings, experience fellowship, raise funds for various causes and participate in service projects that help their communities.

The Potsdam Kiwanis club meets every second and fourth Tuesday of the month at the Potsdam Ponderosa at 6 p.m.
