POTSDAM -- Religious communities, service organizations and businesses are combining efforts to provide Thanksgiving food baskets this year and are seeking donations.
Coordinated by the Potsdam Interfaith Thanksgiving Program (PITP), groups work together to provide a holiday meal for families who might not be able to afford a turkey and dinner ingredients.
The program is asking the community for donations of money and nonperishable foods. Groups can organize food drives for the program or donate fresh vegetables.
Food items can be brought to the following locations through Nov. 20 at noon: St. Mary’s Rectory, 20 Lawrence Ave., weekdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.; to the back door of St. Mary's Church, 17 Lawrence Ave., between 8 a.m. and noon Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, or to Potsdam United Methodist Church, 26 Main St., weekdays between 9 a.m. and noon.
Monetary donations may be mailed to St. Mary’s Rectory c/o Patricia McGinnis or to the Methodist church c/o Betsy Baker.
