The two North Country girls' hockey teams going for national championships in San Jose, Calif. opened their competition yesterday with one team winning and the other losing.
The Potsdam Icestorm 16U Tier II girls beat the Steel City Selects 6-0 in their opening game.
But the St. Lawrence Thunder 14U lost their first game to the east Coast Wizards 3-1.
In round two, the Icestorm take on the Princeton Tiger Lilies at noon Eastern time today, and the Thunder take on the New Jersey Colonials at 9:30 a.m.
