Here are a few of the animals the shelter would like to place
POTSDAM -- The Potsdam Humane Society has several long-term resident pit-bulls and pit-bull mixes at their Potsdam Animal Shelter that need one-pet homes.
“Some of these guys need to be ‘only’ pets and a lot of our adoptors have a houseful...or at least one already,” said PHS Board Member Bonnie Boyd. “So we need to get the word out to a larger audience,” especially since the shelter tries to hold to its “no-kill” policy and some of these dogs are coming up on two years at the shelter. “While that is better than being out on their own, they need a real home for sure.”
Boyd said all the dogs have been “temperament-tested” and have had “all the medical stuff” taken care of, “and are loving with humans.”
The shelter will allow people to take one for a couple of weeks to see how it goes.
People may call PHS at 265-3199 or visit the shelter at 17 Madrid Ave., Monday through Friday 1 to 5 p.m. or Saturday noon to 4 p.m.
