POTSDAM -- The Potsdam Hospital Guild recently donated a basket of baby goodies to the first Mother’s Day baby born this year.

The giveaway is a new endeavor, according to Potsdam Guild president Deany Wood, and will replace the long-time tradition of giving a basket to the first baby born in the New Year.

The basket contains such staples of babyhood as wipes and diapers, as well as hand-crafted items, such as a cotton cardigan with butterfly buttons, by Morristown master-knitter Carolyn Johnson. The basket is compiled and decorated by Kim Jones of the Potsdam Hospital Guild.

The Potsdam Hospital Guild was formed in the 1930s shortly after the founding of the Potsdam Hospital. It exists to raise funds in support of patient care and does so through the CPH Gift Shop as well as through events such as an annual Garden Tour, scheduled this year for June 14.

For more information regarding programs of the Potsdam Hospital Guild or membership in the Guild, interested individuals should contact Deany Wood at 265-7179 or visit the Guild’s Facebook page.
