POTSDAM -- Potsdam High School’s Whiz Quiz team took the championship tournament on a WPBS public television broadcast last month defeating the team from Watertown’s Immaculate Heart Central.
“I had just a great group of boy to work with,” said team advisor Catherine Boula, a resource teacher and co-teacher of Earth science and English at Potsdam Central.
The team of six – four regulars and two alternates – “showed up every Monday with smiles on their faces, having a good time,” preparing for the multi-round tournament with things like Trivial Pursuit and a bank of questions from the National Quiz Bowl.
The championship program was taped Oct. 26 and broadcast Dec. 11, The tournament began Oct., 15.
This was Boula’s second year as advisor to the team.
