POTSDAM -- The Potsdam High School Red Cross Club donated $1,000 to the North Country Chapter of the Red Cross for its Emergency Fund.
The Emergency Fund is used to help people after fire destroys their home or other emergencies that happen in our area.
This last winter the fund exhausted its allocations for the fiscal year.
The members of the club wanted to do something that would have an impact on the local community. Funds were raised through two fun nights at AAK Middle School for the 5th and 6th grade and also donations from staff at the high school on a Friday dress down day. The Red Cross Club has been in existence at the high school since 2011.
The main purpose of the club is to support the work of the American Red Cross. The check was presented to Jane Gendron the North Country Executive Director.
