POTSDAM -- Potsdam High School music students participated in the St. Lawrence County Music Educators Association All-County Festival in Ogdensburg Feb. 5 and 6.
The concert was dedicated to Potsdam music teacher Cathy Frick, who passed away last summer. SLCMEA donated $500 to PCS Music Friends for a scholarship which will be awarded to a graduating senior who demonstrates qualities of kindness, generosity, and a commitment to music.
The choir students performed under the direction of Potsdam alumnus Jeff Thacher, a world renowned vocal percussionist from the acappella group Rockapella. They are known best from some of their commercials, such as one for Folgers Coffee, and from the computer game and PBS children’s program Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego. Band students performed under the expertise of Canton HS Band Director Tim Savage.
