POTSDAM -- The Potsdam Hospital Guild recently presented their annual donation to the Canton-Potsdam Hospital Foundation, this year totaling $67,069.

The donation included a $15,000 payment on their pledge for the new Center for Cancer Care, $24,000 for a new fetal monitor for obstetrics, $16,052 for patient beds, and several other grants for smaller projects.

Potsdam Guild volunteers operate the CPH Gift Shop, with all proceeds benefiting the hospital.

The guild also raises funds through in-hospital book and uniform sales, and from community events including Trivia Night, Family Hockey Night, a garage sale, and a golf tournament. The 18 guild board members and countless guild volunteers donate thousands of hours in fundraising for the hospital each year.

At its annual meeting, the guild thanked departing board members and welcomed seven new members, Linda Buchanan, Tammy Fuller, Joanne Hudson, Carolyn Johnson, Kim Jones, Janet Allen, and Mary VanLeuven. Officers were also elected, including President Joyce Yianoukos, Vice President Laurie Cappello, Secretary Suzanne Dougherty, and Treasurer Mary Jane Smalling.
