POTSDAM -- Fourth grade students in Mrs. McCormick’s and Ms. Santimaw’s classes at Lawrence Avenue Elementary recently collected nearly 1,000 food items to be donated to the Potsdam Neighborhood Center.

This is Mrs. McCormick’s 19th year collecting the food from all the classes the school for Make A Difference Day.

The generosity of the students and staff have made this annual event an important part of their curriculum, benefiting many in the community.

The “bucket-filling” school themes of citizenship, responsibility, respect and generosity were evident as the students collected, sorted and delivered the food to the Neighborhood Center, teachers said.
