Potsdam fifth-graders support Dick Murphy/Dalton Guyette Memorial Youth Project

POTSDAM – Fifth graders at A.A. Kingston Middle School participated in Buck Up for Kids, a fundraiser to support the Dick Murphy/Dalton Guyette Memorial Youth Project.

Students delivered envelopes to houses in the Village of Potsdam explaining the Memorial Youth Project and requesting residents “Buck Up” to support local children.

After collecting many envelopes on the designated pick-up date from supportive community members, the students were shocked by the overwhelming response. To date, the activity has brought more than $2,000 of support to the Memorial Youth Project. This fundraiser was held in conjunction with many other activities during Buck Up for Kids.

The Dick Murphy/Dalton Guyette Memorial Youth Project assists local children in the pursuit of their extracurricular passions. Through the program, students with financial need are given scholarships to participate in sports, AP classes, music lessons, art classes and various other activities that allow them to explore their interests outside of the classroom.

The Memorial Youth Project is now in its 14th year of serving local children funded mainly by sponsorships from generous local business, grants and donations from community members.

More information can be found at https://www.facebook.com/MemorialYouthProject/. In addition to other fundraisers, there is a GoFundMe page for donations to the project at https://www.gofundme.com/buckupforkids.
