Potsdam Elks contribute $1,000 to Cerebral Palsy Association of North Country

CANTON -- Cerebral Palsy Association of the North Country recently gratefully accepted a $1,000 check from the Potsdam Benevolent & Protective Order of the Elks.

Over the years, the Potsdam Lodge has been very active in supporting CP of the North Country, as well as individuals with disabilities. Elks members throughout the North Country have participated in CP of the North Country's Polar Bear Golf Classic and many will be present at this year's Polar Bear Golf Classic on Thursday, Feb. 16.

BPOE is a national fraternal, charitable, and service order, and has 125 lodges in New York State. Every year, the Potsdam Lodge donates approximately $35,000 to local charities, scholarships and programs. Members also participate in activities like drug awareness programs, youth activities, youth sports, veterans' services and more.

“The New York State Elks Association has been a strong supporter of CP of NYS and its affiliates for nearly 50 years,” said Susan Constantino, President and CEO of Cerebral Palsy Associations of New York State. “In addition, individual lodges across the state have been very generous in working with our local affiliates to support programs and services that help people with disabilities live more independently in their home communities. Over these many years the NYS Elks Association has raised nearly $25 million dollars to support the CP of NYS Home Service Program and Home Service Directors in each of our affiliates. Additionally, individual lodges like the one in Potsdam have provided support for programs conducted by affiliates in their communities. There are programs and services that we simply could not afford to provide without the dedication and commitment of the New York State Elks Association and its local lodges across the state,” Constantino said.
