Potsdam elementary school students raise money for ‘Helping Hands’

POTSDAM -- The Lawrence Avenue K-Kids Club held a RADA sale to earn money to help the Potsdam Helping Hands.

Jane Wells, former Executive Director of Potsdam Helping Hands said that “the monies would go to families who would are having trouble paying their fuel or electric bills, or need extra help because they have lost their jobs or someone has become disabled.”

Each year, the kids decide which organizations they would like to support. This past year, the K-Kids voted to support the Potsdam Helping Hands, to start their year off, and then set aside monies for the Potsdam Animal Shelter, the American Red Cross, the Potsdam Neighborhood Center and St. Lawrence County Hospice.

The kids will be doing two more fundraisers, so that they can collect monies to donate to the Animal Shelter and one more organization that they have not yet voted on.

If you would like more information about the K-Kids, they meet at the Lawrence Avenue Elementary School on Thursdays at 3:15 p.m. in the small cafeteria. The Kiwanis Advisor, Carla Ingram, can be reached at challenge741@yahoo.com.
