MASSENA -- Two Potsdam residents were charged by village police with grand larceny and felony drug possession early Tuesday morning.
Christopher J. Konsul IV, 30, of 7183 State Route 56 is charged with one felony count each fourth-degree grand larceny and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, as well as five misdemeanor counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Michelle E. Bell, 34, of 150 Market Street is charged with fourth-degree grand larceny.
Sgt. Adam Love said the couple allegedly stole $1,068 in cash from a friend’s purse. When taken into custody, Konsul was allegedly in possession of a white powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine and a bag containing various pills that tested positive as controlled substances.
Both were arraigned in Massena Village Court before Justice Gerald Sharlow. Konsul is being held in the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility, Canton, in lieu of $50,000 bail or $100,000 bond. Bell was released under supervision of the Probation Department.
