POTSDAM -- The Town Council will appoint a citizen, a town councilor and the supervisor to its Sexual Harassment Committee instead of the supervisor and two councilors.
The committee is being formed to write a sexual harassment policy for the town.
But if the committee included the supervisor and two councilors, the three Town Council members would constitute an official quorum making every meeting of the committee a full-fledged Town Council meeting, requiring official public notice, an official agenda and official minutes, which was neither intended, required or desirable.
So at its meeting Tuesday night, Dec. 12, the council announced that an ordinary citizen would be appointed instead of a second member of the council.
