POTSDAM — A 14-year old was sent to Canton-Potsdam Hospital Monday morning after being struck in a cross walk by a vehicle on Lawrence Avenue while riding his bike to school, according to Potsdam police.
The unnamed 14-year old was struck by a car driven by 86-year old Robert P. Stark of Potsdam.
Stark was driving a Buick sedan southbound shortly after 7 a.m. when he failed to stop for a crossing guard and hit the child’s bike with his vehicle.
The force of the collision knocked the child off of the bicycle, officers said.
The child was reportedly taken to Canton-Potsdam Hospital and examined for injuries.
Officers said he was “sore” but no debilitating injuries were observed by medical professionals.
Stark was cited for failure to yield right of way to a pedestrian in a cross walk and is to answer the charge in Potsdam court Nov. 7.
Potsdam Fire and Rescue also responded to the accident.
