POTSDAM -- The Potsdam Charity Hankfest Group says they had another great year in 2014.

“We held our 9th annual Hankfest on August 9 at the Sandstoner Park Pavilion near the Pine Street Arena. We so loved the location that it will now be home for Hankfest 2015. The weather was perfect for an outdoor event and we thank all those that attended or participated as musicians and vendors. This year’s event raised $700 for the Potsdam Public Library,” said Hankfest Public Relations Director Marylee Ballou.

In 2015, the group plans two new events. First, a children’s Easter party on March 28. The event will be geared toward ages 2-12 and there will be activities, stories, treats and a visit by Peter Cottontail.

Second, will be a celebration of Loretta Lynn’s Birthday on Saturday, April 11, even though her birthday is April 14. This event for senior citizens will show the movie based on her life, will have popcorn and beverages and will be held in the Village Community Room on Park Street.

Both events are free.

“We have added these two community events to spread out into the community,” said Hankfest founder Gregory Bouchard. “I wanted to offer something for the future country fans and longtime lovers of country music.”

Hankfest will be held Aug. 8 this year and is a milestone year for the event as it marks the 10th anniversary. Details for the festival are being worked the group hopes to have some special happenings to celebrate this milestone.
