POTSDAM – The Chamber of Commerce is ready to put up some new “Welcome to Potsdam” signs.

Chamber Executive Director Maggie McKenna says two of the five proposed signs are ready, made by Northeastern Sign Corporation of Colton.

The metal signs from Northeastern Sign are all paid for, and funds for stonework bases for the first two signs “is in hand,” according to Town Councilor Rose Rivezzi, who reports chamber matters to the town board.

The stonework bases will be built by Potsdam Stonescaping. Bicknell Building Supply is donating other materials

One sign will be across from Bicknell Building Supply on US Rt. 11 southwest of the village. The second one will be seen coming into the village from the south on State Rt. 56, Pierrepont Avenue, near Big Spoon Kitchen and before the SUNY Potsdam campus.

Three others are planned for Outer Market Street, Rt. 56 north; Lawrence Avenue, US 11 north; and Outer Elm Street, State Rt. 11B east of the village.

Donations for the sign project have been received from Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Clarkson University, SUNY Potsdam, the village and town governments, and a private donation from Town Councilor Rose Rivezzi.

To donate funds for the sign project, visit the chamber office at 24 Market St., or call 315-274-9000.
