POTSDAM -- The Potsdam Central School Youth Philanthropy Council of the Northern New York Community Foundation is seeking proposals for project funding by non-profit organizations.

Organizations must be providing services in St. Lawrence, Jefferson and Lewis Counties to be eligible.

Up to $10,000 in grant will be awarded in June 2014.

The council will review all proposals and notify finalists about presentations in the spring.

“It is our hope non-profit organizations will consider this unique opportunity to enhance the positive work they’re doing for our communities, especially in St. Lawrence County,” said Max DelSignore, coordinator of donor services. “The students participating on the council at Potsdam Central School will have a direct hand in improving the North Country through this program. We’re also grateful for the generosity of our sponsors and supporters of this initiative and the Community Foundation.”

Proposals should include a general description of the organization and planned project, as well as the amount sought. A contact person must be listed.

Submissions must be received by Jan. 13, 2014.

Eleven students are participating on the first foundation council at Potsdam.

The students on the Potsdam Youth Philanthropy Council are Ella Dudek, Emma LoMastro, Daniel Stone, Brittany Fullerton, James Matteson, Kelsey Sixberry, Bethany Gilbert, Victoria Mondragon, Molly Tishberg, Marko Jukić, and MacKenzie Neaton.
