POTSDAM -- Potsdam Central School graduate Sheryl Akins recently published her first book of poetry "Reasons for the Seasons of Change.

Akins graduated from SUNY Potsdam with a bachelor's degree in writing literature and secondary education.

She now resides in Port St. Lucie, Fla., where she works as a high school English teacher. Akins is the daughter of Karen and Ronie Ashlaw.
