POTSDAM – In light of the tragic school shooting in Newtown, Conn., the Potsdam Central School District will hold a parent meeting on Monday, Dec. 17 at 5:30 p.m. in the Lawrence Avenue Elementary School cafeteria.

Parents and children alike are struggling to come to terms with yet another tragedy perpetrated on children by an evidently deranged young man with access to guns and ammunition.

Mary Jones from Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley will answer questions and provide resources to help parents talk with their children about this tragedy. School administrators will provide information about school safety plans and resources available to families.

Potsdam School Superintendent Pat Brady announced this special session for parents as the nation absorbs the tragedy of yet another school shooting, this time in a quiet Connecticut school where 20 students, mostly 6 and 7 years old, and several adults were killed last Friday morning by a lone, young gunman who ended his spree by killing himself.
