POTSDAM -- The Potsdam Central School District Board of Education has selected two finalists for superintendent to replace Pat Brady, who is moving to Massena Central School in July.

Potsdam High School Principal Joann Chambers and Secondary Principal Bradley Zilliox of the Wheatland-Chili Central Schools in Scottsville have been chosen for the final round of interviews and appearances with the public.

They will speak with school and community groups on Wednesday, May 27. The community session will begin at 6 p.m. in the A.A. Kingston Middle School large group instruction room.

Both candidates will speak for 20 minutes, followed by question and answer periods.

Joann Chambers has been Potsdam’s high school principal since 2008; before that, beginning in 2004, she was the elementary school principal. She began her teaching career in 1987 at Lowville Academy before moving to Kingston Middle School in 1994 as a 7th grade English teacher.

Bradley Zilliox has been in his current principal position in 2009. He was an assistant middle school principal in Webster schools from 2004 to 2009, and assistant high school principal from 2002 to 2004 in Newark, N.Y. schools. He began teaching in 1990 as a 7th and 8th grade social studies instructor at Gustavus Adolphus Learning Center in Falconer.

Links to the resumes of both candidates can be found at Potsdam schools’ home page at http://www.potsdam.k12.ny.us/.

It’s possible, Brady said, that the board might make an appointment at their June 9 meeting.

“However, many candidates have obligations to their current districts into August, so we anticipate the new person won’t be on board until August,” Brady said.
