Potsdam-based Penski Staffing sold to Atlanta company

POTSDAM — Penski Staffing was acquired by Atlanta-based CorTech, LLC on June 13 and all staff will keep their jobs.

“We have decided to acquire Penski Staffing because it shares the same values we do,” CorTech said in an email. “We conducted an extensive search for an opportunity like this. Penski Staffing exceeded our hopes for a company we can combine with and continue the tradition we have for excellent service, deep expertise, and an environment our clients and associates want to be a part of.”

“We are intentionally making it low key, since there has been very minimal impact of customers and assignees,” said former owner Bob Penski.

“The same staff will be providing the same high quality staffing service expected of a locally managed firm,” he said. “The main difference is that Deb Moschell is replacing me as lead person.”

Moschell has 20 years experience with Penski.

“She knows our customers, staff and associates and will be a gray leader for Penski Staffing/A CorTech LLC Company as it continues to grown in the North Country,” Penske said.

Penski and his wife Judy began the business in 1980, where it was a payroll service that morphed into a staffing firm.

As part of handling payroll services for many local businesses, Penski was helped several small businesses with payroll, workers compensation and other paperwork.

“We alleviated a lot of paperwork for small businesses like bakeries, welders and contractors,” Penski said.

“The timing was right for us as the staffing industry nation-wide was taking off,” he said.

Over the years Penski helped staff local colleges with food workers and office positions, assembly workers and skilled laborers.

Branches were opened in Ogdensburg and Massena as Penski and the job markets grew.

Penski will now conduct business as Penski Staffing “A CorTech, LLC Company.”

CorTech LLC began in 1999, headquartered in Georgia, with 20 current office locations across the United State.

CorTech says they will provide many new services and areas of expertise in the future to Penski clients. CorTech noted that staff would remain the same, the fee structure would not change and business will be conducted in the same offices.

Penski said CorTech is replicating Penski’s software, Hireware.com, in their other 20 locations. The program helps screen employees for jobs that better suit each party.

Penski cited age, employee interest in taking on leadership roles and workers compensation as prime drivers in his decision to sell.

“CorTech was very insistent that we stay local – remain Penski – but now we have the advantages of a larger firm,” he said.

Penski will stay on as a consultant with the company.

“We want to keep it growing, expand services for employers and provide more choices for job seekers,” he said.
