Stella, resident at the Potsdam Animal Shelter, says, 'What is a three-year-old sweet gal like me to do to get your attention? I am a pit mix, love kids and people. Cats not so much. Come see me soon.'
POTSDAM -- The Potsdam Humane Society is considering changing some of the times it is open to make it easier for some people to visit and pick a pet.
Is the shelter, at 17 Madrid Ave., closed when you might want to visit? Would it be better to be open on a weekday evening? Or would Sunday afternoon be more convenient for adoption hours?
The question was brought to the attention of the Potsdam Humane Society by Stella, a three-year-old pit bull mix dog who has been living at the shelter for the better part of a year, according to PHS Board President Bonnie Boyd. "This place is okay, but I need a home," Stella said, and wondered if some different hours at the shelter might bring more people in.
The shelter is now open Monday through Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. and noon until 4 on Saturdays.
If a change in hours would make it easier for people of the North Country to visit the shelter, PHS would like to know.
