Four men were arrested, and pot and pills valued at $10,000, $14,000 cash, and weapons were seized by members of the St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force during an investigation in Canton and Potsdam Tuesday.
Charged were:
• William G. Bowen 21, 14 Lincoln St., Canton, criminal sale of marihuana 3rd, (E felony) and criminal possession of marihuana 4th (A misdemeanor). Bowen was remanded to county jail on $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.
• Jordan C. Willette 22, 170 Pleasant Valley Rd, Potsdam, criminal sale of marihuana 3rd (E felony), open container and consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle. Willette was remanded to county jail on $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.
• Sam W. Gardner 21, 38 Judson St, Canton, obstruction governmental administration 2nd (A misdemeanor), resisting arrest (A misdemeanor), unlawful possession of marihuana (a violation). Gardner was released on his own recognizance.
• Matthew P. Vanhyning 23, 6232 County Rt. 27, Canton, criminal sale of marihuana 3rd (E felony) and criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th (A misdemeanor). Vanhyning was released to supervision of probation.
Armed with search warrants, police said they seized $14,000 cash, two and a half pounds of marijuana, 60 Oxycontin tablets, one illegal handgun and a shotgun.
Drug Task Force Members said the investigation is ongoing and more charges are pending against the suspects.
Assisting in the investigation were Canton Village Police, county Sheriff’s Department, Potsdam Police, Gouverneur Police, SUNY Potsdam Police, New York State Police, and Ogdensburg Police Department.
