POTSDAM -- Robert J Freego Amvets Post 282, 6771 U.S. Highway 11, have added hours to their operations as well as several free offerings.

The post is now open every Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday from noon to 8 p.m. and Fridays from 2 to 8 p.m. They offer free pool, free chili with crackers every Wednesday from 4:30 until 7:30 p.m.,

Soon they will host live music Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7 p.m. with Jerry Deon, who will play classic country and rock tunes.

The Amvets say non-members are welcome to stop in the post any time they are open, but they are required to sign the guest book.

“Enjoy our friendly bartending staff, find out the events we are offering and make a visit on a Wednesday for some delicious chili,” the post said in an email. “We have membership applications at the bar for Amvets, Sons of Amvets and our auxiliary.

The post is available to book for small parties and functions. They have a meeting room for organizations to hold meetings.

They also offer a place for family needing a gathering place for any veteran’s memorial service or celebration of life. There is no charge.
