POTSDAM -- Potsdam Agway will host a retired greyhound adoption day Dec. 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Agway estimated about 25,000 of retired racers who were available for adoption each of the last three years (based on calculations from the National Greyhound Association and the American Greyhound Council).
Of those dogs only 18,000 retired racers are being adopted annually, which means that more than 7,000 greyhounds are euthanized each year.
