POTSDAM -- The Kiwanis Club of Potsdam installed its new officers and board members recently, and presented its Distinguished Service Award.

Effa Sullivan was installed as president, Matthew Rollins as president elect, Carla Ingram as secretary, and JoAnn Gilbo as treasurer. Outgoing president Dan Fritz will serve as immediate past president and was given a scrapbook to commemorate his two consecutive terms as president.

Board members installed included Marylee Ballou, Tom Chappell, and Tim Virgil. Potsdam Kiwanis member Richard Fancher is now serving as the St. Lawrence Division Lt. Governor.

The Potsdam Kiwanis Club presented its Distinguished Service Award to 23- year member Carla Ingram, and its highest honor of the Kiwanian of the Year Award to Marylee Ballou.

“It was a great and unexpected honor to receive this award,” said Ballou. “I am honored to be a part of a group of such dedicated and selfless people. Kiwanis does so many great things for the children of our communities, and I am pleased to be a member.”

The Kiwanis Club of Potsdam was chartered in 1989 and will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2014.
