North Country residents can help victims of Hurricane Sandy by leaving a non-perishable food item in their mailboxes Saturday.
The United States Post Office in the region is hosting a food drive to restock food pantries in the New York City area.
Anyone interested in donating can simply leave an item in the mailbox, and the carrier will pick it up.
Letter carriers will deliver the items to a nearby hub and it will be shipped downstate.
Anyone looking to contribute further should can drop additional items off at local post offices.
Glass items will not be accepted.
The drive will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10 only.
