POTSDAM – Potsdam police are searching for the driver of a vehicle believed to be involved in a hit-and-run accident Tuesday afternoon on Elm Street.
Police said a driver reported that she was westbound on Elm Street preparing to complete a turn into the parking lot to the rear of Little Italy when she was struck from behind by another vehicle.
The complainant reportedly motioned for the other vehicle to follow her into the parking lot; however after she completed the turn the other vehicle continued to the intersection at Market Street and turned.
The complainant was able to exit her vehicle and take a photograph of the vehicle as it waited to turn onto Market Street, officers said.
Officers said the vehicle is described as a light grey mid-sized SUV, possibly a Toyota, which had a spare wheel housing on the hatch in same color as the SUV.
The vehicle reportedly sustained front end damage as a result of the collision.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Potsdam Police Department at 265-2121.
