FORT COVINGTON -- A Fort Covington man was jailed Sunday after commanding his dog to attack to people who had a stay away order of protection against him, according to state police.
On Oct. 29 around 11:30 p.m., troopers say they responded to a residence on state Route 37 for a report of a vicious dog.
A 26-year-old male victim and 34-year-old female victim both of Fort Covington, were bitten by a dog belonging to Bruce W. Cayea, 57, officers said.
Cayea allegedly released the dog and gave it a command to attack the two.
The male was bitten on the right ankle and the female was bitten on her left hand and again on the left knee. The two victims declined medical treatment, police said.
An active stay away order of protection was found to be in effect, which mandates that Cayea stay away from the victims and refrain from committing crimes against them, police said.
Cayea was also found with around 11 grams of marijuana, police said.
Cayea was arrested and charged with second-degree assault and first-degree criminal contempt, both felonies, and unlawful possession of marijuana, troopers said.
He was arraigned in Bombay court and was remanded to the Franklin County Jail, Malone, on $4,000 bail or $8,000 bond. Cayea is to appear in Fort Covington court Nov. 2, at 3 p.m., police said.
