MASSENA -- Village and state police are investigating a man's death at 192 Center St.

As of Thursday morning, authorities had cordoned off the residence with yellow crime scene tape. Massena police, along with state police Forensic Identification Unit, Violent Crime Investigation Team and Bureau of Criminal Investigations are involved.

District Attorney Mary Rain said they are not yet ready to release the deceased's identity or if there are any suspects. She said that information will be forthcoming as the investigation progresses.

"It doesn't appear to be natural causes," Rain said.

She said the case is not related to a series of armed robberies that took place in the area between Oct. 22 and 25. State police said they have charged four people in connection with several strongarm burglaries. Read more about that here.

Massena Police Chief Adam Love did not immediately return phone calls seeking to confirm a report that the Center Street death is a homicide.
