Police identify woman flown to Vermont hospital following accident with semi on Rt. 420

NORFOLK – State police have identified the woman seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash on NYS Hwy. 420 Tuesday afternoon.

The road was closed for several hours following the accident just south of Massena near the Brouse Road while police reconstructed the collision.

Debra J. McGregor, 47, of 881 W. Mahoney Rd., Brasher, was transported to Fletcher-Allen Medical Center, Burlington, Vt., after first being taken to Massena Memorial Hospital by Seaway Valley Ambulance for serious left arm and left leg injuries, police said.

Her 1997 Geo struck the rear right-side trailer tires of a 2007 Mack semi tractor-trailer operated by Daniel J. Patten, 48, of 24 Factory St., North Lawrence at about 2:38 p.m., police said.

McGregor had a 2-year-old boy in the rear passenger seat, in a child restraint. He was evaluated on scene and transported to Massena Memorial Hospital were he was treated and released to his parents, police said.

Investigation into the cause of the accident is continuing, police said.
