PARISHVILLE -- Police agencies and environmental conservation officials say they are unable to confirm a report that a bull moose was shot and killed recently near Joe Indian Pond Road.
A White Hill Road resident says he heard that a bull moose had been shot, that the hindquarters were taken, and the rest was left behind.
But calls to various state Department of Environmental Conservation offices, the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, and state police in Canton have turned up no evidence of the shooting of a moose, a legally protected animal.
A member of a Parishville hunting club said he and his son have been hunting in the area recently, and his son heard what he believed was a moose. They have also saw moose tracks, but they did not see the animal, nor have they heard of anyone shooting a moose.
