MASSENA -- Police have charged three people and are seeking a fourth in connection with the stabbing and shooting that took place on Thursday night.

On Friday, police say they charged Damian A. Giarratano, 23, of 243 County Route 43, Alan M. Green, 25, of 52 McCluskey Ave., and Amanda M. Terrance, 32, of 155 Main St., all in Massena.

They are all charged with four counts of first-degree robbery, four counts of first-degree burglary, three counts of first-degree assault and two counts of second-degree assault, police said.

A fourth suspect, Richard A. Herne, 36, of Hogansburg is at large. Massena police Chief Adam Love said an arrest warrant was issued for him on Monday morning.[img_assist|nid=204645|title=Herne|desc=|link=none|align=right|width=200|height=193]

“Multiple agencies are on the lookout for him,” Love said.

The four are accused of breaking into 10 Cook St. around 10:25 p.m. Thursday night. One of them was allegedly armed with a shotgun and shot Anthony A. Lewis, 31, in the chest. Another was armed with a machete and slashed Sergey Barsukov, 28, police said.

Lewis was taken to Massena Memorial Hospital and flown to University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, Vt., where he is in serious condition. Barsukov was treated at MMH and released, police said last week.

Love declined to say which of the suspects is accused of the shooting and which is accused of the slashing.

Giarratano, Green and Terrance were arraigned in Massena court by Justice Patrick Serguson and remanded to the St. Lawrence County jail without bail, police said.

Love said anyone with information on Herne's whereabouts should contact the Massena Police Department at (315)769-3577. He says people should take no action other than to notify law enforcement.
