CANTON — A Canton man was charged this morning following a personal-injury accident in which a vehicle struck a utility pole on Old DeKalb Road, according to St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies.

Robert B. Croes, 22, was driving a 2014 Nissan Rouge when he lost control of the vehicle after cresting a hill, officers said. The vehicle then struck a utility pole, shearing it, then striking an embankment before coming to a rest.

Deputies charged him with speed not reasonable of prudent, failure to keep right and uninspected motor vehicle.

The accident was reported at 7:45 a.m.

Deputies were assisted by Canton police, Canton fire and Canton rescue.
