St. Lawrence County residents are eligible for a Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee or Plumbers and Steamfitters, Local Union #73 recruitment for six plumber and steamfitter apprentices.

It will go from March 16 to 27.

Applications can be obtained at Local Union #73, 705 East Seneca Street, Oswego, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, during the recruitment period. Applications must be obtained in person.

This is a limited-application recruitment.

Only 100 applications will be distributed, on a first-come, first-served basis.

Applicants must :

• be at least 18 years old.

• have a high school diploma or a high school equivalency diploma (such as TASC or GED).

• attest in writing that they are physically able to perform the work required, which may include moderate to heavy lifting, working in confined spaces, working from ladders and scaffolds at various heights and working in extreme cold and heat.

• possess a valid driver’s license in order to operate company vehicles.

• pass a drug screening, at the expense of the sponsor, after selection and prior to indenture.

• have reliable transportation to and from various job sites and related instruction classes.

• purchase text materials for class at an average cost of $50.00 per year.

• submit military transfer card or discharge form DD-214, if applicable, after selection and prior to indenture.
