LISBON -- A Pierrepont man is accused of driving in the oncoming lane at the vehicle of the protected person of a court stay-away order who had three young children in the car.
Nick E. Smithers, 54, of State Rt. 68, forced the driver of the other car to take evasive action to avoid a collision Thursday, according to St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies.
Smithers was arrested today on charges of second-degree criminal contempt, endangering the welfare of a child, reckless driving and failure to keep right.
Smithers was arraigned in Canton Town Court and sent to the county lockup on $500 cash bail or $1,000 bond.
He is to appear in Lisbon Town Court at a later date.
