CANTON – The final event of the 36th annual Summer Sunset Series drew 273 runners and walkers completing the one-mile or 5K Summer Sunset course Aug. 12.
Finishers in the longer event enjoyed a cooldown in a hearty, soaking rain.
Weather also played a part in the second of the three-part summer series in July. That race had to be canceled due to lightning.
In the last race, Matt Pierce finished first in 16:21. Dennis Korir was second in 16:27, followed by Austin Scott in 6:35.
Kaycie Saucier was the first woman to cross the line in 19:36. Laura Pierce was second with a time of 20:28 and Kristen Betrus finished third in 20:56.
