CANTON -- Telephone service to the St. Lawrence County Office of Emergency Services has been disrupted, Director Joseph Gilbert reports.
In a statement this afternoon, Gilbert said that landlines, Internet phone and cellular service are all suffering intermittent problems, but as far as they can tell, 911 service is working but could be affected.
Gilbert said the problem "is directly related to a fiber optics cut near Cicero, N.Y. Verizon crews are on the scene working the problem," Gilbert said.
He could give no estimate on how long it would take to resolve the problems.
