Petitions due April 16 for those seeking school board seats

Petitions are due by April 16 for those planning to run for a board of education seat at a St. Lawrence County school.

Each petition must include signatures of at least 25 qualified district voters.

There are three seats open at Potsdam Central. This year incumbents Jim Hubbard and Pat Turbett are up for reelection. Both board members are running again, according to Joann Chambers, PCS superintendent.

Danielle Gray's term is also up, but she has decided not to run again, Chambers said.

Two seats in the Parishville-Hopkinton Central School district are being vacated by Jim Young and Dan Taylor, PHCS Superintendent William Collins said.

The seats are for 5-year terms

Jamie Cruikshank, superintendent at Norwood-Norfolk Central, says three seats are available in his district. The seats are held by James Dillon, George Fulk and Stephen Markum. Each seat is a three-year term.

In Canton, the three seats that are up this year are for Victor Rycroft, Robert Devins, and James Nee, according to school officials.

All seats are for 3-year terms, beginning July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2021.

Petitions are available in the district offices of each district for those who wish to run.
